Maybe I should start with last year's Adventure #1 and say that financial relief finally came with the beginning of my new job (what a blessing and an answer to prayer!). Even though the finances were better, my husband's body was taking a beating with those 10 hour days in shipping (a young man's job, to say the least, and not for someone in his 60's). So . . . . after much discussion and prayer, we made the decision for Jim to retire in time for my two-week winter break!
So . . . . we begin this new year with a new adventure and a new season of our lives - me working full-time (great benefits, by the way) and Jim staying home (at least for awhile - more on that in a future post). On January 22nd, we will be celebrating Jim's 62nd birthday! He's been working since he was 16, so I think he's earned a bit of a break, especially after the last 11 months of heavy, physical labor. We stand amazed and in awe of God for giving him the strenth to survive.
Thanksgiving was spent with our very best friends, David and Corinna.
Here we are, just the two of us - girls!
We never planned to dress alike. It just turned out that way. :o)
There they are, just the two of them!Gosh, we love you guys!

And here we are, just the two of us!
No explanation needed. :o)

We spent Christmas eve with family and friends, singing and praising our Lord at a special service at our church. What a wonderful evening it was too, and then we went home by ourselves - just the two of us!
We spent Christmas day with our children and grandchildren, at their house, eating and playing all day long. What a wonderful day that was too!
And here they are, Billy and Cathy . . . .
Darling Emma, our gorgeous princess, singer and dancer . . . .
and Will, who is as tall as his Mimi and as handsome as his Papa & Daddy . . . .
and last, but certainly not least (as long as my sweet hubby is in the picture), here we are again, just the two of us!

Jeremiah spoke of a new beginning that we can all enjoy on a daily basis, not having to wait for a year or a month or a new adventure to begin. These are his words, recorded in Lamentations 3:21-24:
This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope,
The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
"The Lord is my portion," says my soul,
"Therefore I have hope in Him."
Every single day is a new beginning and a chance to be re-newed in our walk with our Lord! So, for this child of God, there will be NO new year resolutions or even new month resolutions, but my daily hope is that I will walk closer by His side in the shelter of His love and seek to fall more deeply in love with Him. And . . . .
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Amen!
